How does fingerprint matching work on a security key?
You enroll your fingerprint on the key, and its embedded security chip encrypts, stores and protects that fingerprint data. At sign-in, the key checks your finger against the enrolled data inside the key, and FEITIAN states that the stored data cannot be reverse engineered into your fingerprint image. How many fingerprints can a biometric security key store?
It depends on the model. The K26 and K27 store up to 50 fingerprint templates, the K26+ and K27-PIV up to 32, and the K33 and K43 AllinPass up to 16.
Do biometric security keys work with Windows Hello?
Yes, within Microsoft Entra ID. BioPass keys such as the K26 support Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) accounts on Microsoft Entra joined or hybrid joined PCs, once IT enables security key sign-in. After enrollment, users unlock Windows with the key and a fingerprint touch, and the K49+ also lists WBF support.
What happens if I lose a biometric security key?
The fingerprint check stops anyone other than the enrolled user from using the key, so a lost K45 cannot be used on its own. Still, sign in with your backup key and remove the lost key from your accounts.
Which biometric security keys work with phones?
