Compatibility and Use Cases

The VC-200E works with the services listed above. It does not work with DUO Security: use the VC-100E event-based card there. Typical uses:

• MFA for VPNs and apps without a card reader
• Users who carry credentials in a wallet instead of on a keychain
• Staff without company phones and phone-free work areas

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the VC-200E and the VC-100E?

The VC-200E is time-based (OATH-TOTP): each code is valid for 30 or 60 seconds. The VC-100E is event-based (OATH-HOTP). The VC-200E works with Microsoft Entra ID and Azure MFA; the VC-100E does not, but it does work with DUO Security.

Does the VC-200E work with DUO Security?

No. VC-200E cards do not work with DUO Security. For DUO Security, choose the VC-100E card.

What is the NFC variation used for?

The NFC variation lets you program OTP display cards in your own facilities with an NFC smart card reader or an NFC-enabled mobile device, so you can generate your own seed file. NFC is not used for authentication.

What is the EPD option?

Besides the normal LCD screen, the card is available with an EPD (E-Ink Printed Display). EPD uses less energy and is easier on the eyes.

How are the VC-200E seed files delivered?

FEITIAN emails the encrypted seed files to the contact address on the order shortly after shipping, and sends the decryption password in a second email. The default format for TOTP cards is Base32, required for Azure AD; Hex/Plaintext (for Okta) and WatchGuard RFC 6030 XML with an AES 128 key are also available. If you need a different email address or format, add a note to your order.
